Coffee, acrylic and oil pastel on 400 GSM paper

In Mrida Mini – 2, I examine the subtle colours, textures and organic forms associated with soil and clay, reflecting my ongoing interest in the visual qualities of earth.
Working on 400 GSM acid-free paper, I bring together acrylic colours, coffee and oil pastels. The combination of these materials allows for variations in opacity, tonal intensity and surface texture.
Through processes of dilution, layering and repetition, I allow fluid washes to interact with pastel marks to create an abstract composition. The contrast between the different materials introduces depth and visual complexity while maintaining a connection to the colours and textures found in nature.
As part of my Mrida series, this smaller-format work continues my exploration of earth as a source of colour and material inspiration, highlighting the often-unnoticed richness of familiar natural elements.
