In Mrida Mini – 1, I explore the variations in colour, texture and form associated with soil and clay, drawing attention to the visual diversity of earth through abstraction.
Working on 400 GSM acid-free paper using acrylic colours, coffee and oil pastels, I combine different materials to explore their individual qualities and interactions.
Through layering, dilution and repetition, the materials create variations in tone, texture and depth. The interplay of fluid colour and pastel marks contributes to an abstract composition that draws inspiration from the natural characteristics of earth without directly representing them.
As part of my Mrida series, Mrida Mini – 1 extends my exploration of the overlooked beauty of soil and clay, translating their colours and textures into a smaller-format work on paper.
