Artist Statement
My artistic practice is driven by an ongoing exploration of materials and process. Working across painting, illustration, and ceramics, I move fluidly between representational and abstract forms, using each medium to expand my visual language. Formally trained in representational art and illustration, I have increasingly embraced abstraction to explore texture, colour, and surface more intuitively.
Texture, colour, materiality and their interaction are central to my work. Alongside acrylic inks and mediums, I am currently exploring natural materials including coffee, mineral and earth elements, and hand-processed pigments that I have created from potting soil. Through layering pigments, textured surfaces, clay, and glaze, I allow process and material interaction to shape the final outcome. My practice is rooted in continual discovery, experimentation, and the evolving relationship between material, surface, and form.
Artist Bio
Aparna Chakravarty is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans fine art, ceramics, graphic design, illustration, and digital media. With extensive professional experience in e-commerce, web design, and usability across India and Singapore, she brings a refined visual language and strong design sensibility to her artistic work. Inspired by nature, texture, colour, and the interplay of pattern and form, her practice explores both painting and the tactile processes of ceramics and mixed media. Her work reflects an ongoing dialogue between observation, materiality, and contemporary aesthetics. Aparna’s artworks are held in private collections across India, Hong Kong, the United States, and Singapore.
