In Mrida Mini – 4, I explore the relationship between colour, material and texture, drawing inspiration from the varied visual characteristics of soil and clay.

Working on 400 GSM acid-free paper using acrylic colours, coffee and oil pastels, I bring together materials with distinct properties to examine their interaction within an abstract composition.

Through layering, dilution and overlapping applications, I combine fluid washes of colour with more defined pastel marks. These contrasting techniques create variations in tone, depth and surface texture, reflecting the diversity of patterns and forms found in earth.

As part of my Mrida series, this work translates the material qualities of soil and clay into a compact abstract composition, continuing my investigation into the often-overlooked visual richness of the natural world.
