Coastal Colours 1 explores the interplay of colour, movement and atmosphere within the coastal landscape, drawing inspiration from the meeting of sea, sand and sky.
The work reflects the contrasting qualities of the ocean, from the energy of crashing waves to the stillness of the shoreline. Shifting light, changing tides and the subtle variations in colour across different times of day and seasons inform the composition.
Through abstraction, I translate these observations into layers of colour, texture and movement, capturing the essence of a fleeting moment rather than depicting a specific coastal scene.
As part of my Coastal Colours series, the painting examines the relationship between dynamism and tranquillity, reflecting my ongoing fascination with the ocean and its constantly changing visual character.
