“The Deep Blue Canvas” series was named by my son.
The Deep Blue Canvas 2 & 3 diptych explores the depth, movement and subtle variations of blue through two interconnected abstract compositions.
Working with a palette of deep blues, turquoise, aqua and soft whites, I explore the interaction of colour, transparency and layered forms. Fluid washes overlap and merge, creating organic shapes and transitions that suggest depth and movement without representing a specific landscape.
The two panels complement one another through their shared palette and visual rhythm. Lighter, translucent areas contrast with deeper, more saturated blues, while traces of underlying colours remain visible, adding complexity and dimension to the surfaces.
The artworks in the diptych can also be seen as separate entities and be installed on their own.
